Although all the doubt in this story gets credited to Thomas, there’s plenty of doubt to go around in the days following Jesus’ resurrection. Our reading isn’t properly about doubt anyway. Let’s find out what it is about!

  • What has been your experience with doubt? How did you deal with it? What did you learn as you moved through doubt?

  • Thomas’ doubt has long been interpreted as a lack of faith. Granted, his “proof of life” criteria are rather drastic, but what can you imagine might be other reasons for his “need to know for sure”?

  • Augustine saw his spiritual journey as “faith seeking understanding.” In what ways can you imagine doubt as a catalyst for faith?
